Creation Enjoying in JK

Last Friday, our class went on a lovely spring walk. We were blessed with gorgeous sunny weather! We spent the afternoon looking for treasures and signs of spring. Each group was given an egg carton/spring treasure collection box that they could fill with special items from our walk. The group leaders could be the final authority on what went in...I merely suggested they not take anything creeping or crawling back on the bus.
We saw lots of things turning green, buds popping on the trees, a giant ant hill, birds, a snake (with its head missing...yuck), squirrels, some giant green bull-frogs, and several swimming and flying Canadian geese.
Yesterday, we drew pictures of what saw on our safari. If you look closely, you can see some of the items from the list up above.
A special "THANK-YOU" goes out to everyone who came along to help keep us safe!

Spring Time Freebie (Clock Printable) for Stamping

Here's a freebie for those who love ink and stamps!
(what child doesn't like stamping!?!)

It's a Spring rendition of a clock printable that I made this past fall.

Happy Stamping!

Freebie can be found HERE or HERE

Math Centres

We started five new math centres this week.
The children are using pattern blocks to make animal pictures (mats from Prekinders), working on finishing patterns with my Spring "clip a pattern activity" and "what comes next" activity, colouring their own patterns, sorting numbers, and playing a dice game called "Race to the Top".

These activities are part of my Spring Literacy and Math pack available in my TPT store.

Spring Clip-a-pattern

Children read the pattern and clip a clothespin
on the next picture in the pattern.

Prekinders pattern mats

Dice game: Race to the Top

Children take turn rolling the dice,
then colour in the corresponding number on the graph.
Whatever number reaches the top first, is the winner!

Colour your own pattern: ABC, AB

Sorting Numbers (great sorting and fine motor activity)

What comes next? Children finish the patterns
(another great fine motor/patterning activity)

Crazy Hat Day

Yesterday was Crazy Hat day!
The JK's displayed wonderful school spirit as they sported a wide variety of cranium covers.
The children were so excited to wear their hats and share with me about how they made them.
From what I was told, I think some of the moms had a lot of fun decorating the hats too!
Each class in the school had the opportunity to vote on the best hat in the class,  and all the class winners received a sweet prize.
Congratulations to Luke and Caitlin, our JK Crazy Hat champs.
