Thanksgiving Week

It is the week leading up to our Canadian Thanksgiving, so we are doing a few Thanksgiving-themed activities in our class.

I invited the children to bring in autumn and/or Thanksgiving items that they would like to share with the class.
They could bring in things that they were thankful for, or items that represent things or people that they are thankful for (ie: a family picture, a dog collar b/c they are thankful for their dog).
I've had a few items trickle in, so our display has begun to grow.

Our book of the week is, Franklin's Thanksgiving by Paulette Bourgeois. We will be reading this book each day and doing various activities to go along with it.
The book begins with Franklin and his parents receiving news that his grandparents won't be able to come over for Thanksgiving dinner. Franklin and his parents each secretly invite surprise guests over for dinner and at the end of the story they have an incredible outdoor dinner with their special group of friends.
Today, we talked about visitors or guests that we might be having over for Thanksgiving and foods that we might be eating.
FYI: Franklin loves "pumpkin-fly pie"! Yum Yum!

This afternoon, I asked each child to tell me something that they were thankful for, they made illustrations of them and then we hung them up for all to enjoy!

"We thank you, Lord for cheese, flowers, polly pockets, babies, pizza, trampolines, supper, rain and birthdays!!!"
